Our most eventful Rally to Date. This Rally around beautiful Perthshire countryside on a lovely sunny day pushed both of us & the car to the limit !

Like all the rounds of the New Pig championship we have attended, we have been impressed with the organisation of events. This one in particular went like clockwork, which just shows what can be achieved when the event gets council backing & support.
However once we got going On Saturday morning the stages soon got the better of us.

stage 1; Hit an enbankment & ditch damaging and pulling out half the wing, but managed to drive out.
got a puncture & by the time it was safe to stop the whole wheel had disintergrated into what looked like a frizby leaving a mess of wires to cut off before we could put on the spare.

stage 2; The bonnet flew up, so we had to stop & shut it. Then another puncture .

Stage 3: soon into stage hit a rut on a sharp bend & the wheel broke off, wheels studs littering the track with the threads torn off. Continued with 3 studs on each wheel.

Then we missed a bend & everso gracefully rolled the car onto its roof, neither of us hurt. A marshal had sprinted up to check on us so we enlisted his help in rolling the car back onto its wheels. & off we drove! pausing briefly to kick out the smashed windscreen. we donned our sunglasses as makeshift visors & enjoyed the cooling down that the shower of rain gave us.

back in service2 everyone rallied around lending wheels & goggles, a temporary windshield, tools & helping hands. The support was fantastic & we're very grateful to all the people who helped.

Stage 4; No mishaps although we did find another puncture on return to service3.

faster Duncan !

Final Stage 5; we were flying ! really looking forward to a finish after such a hectic day when..... 2.34miles from the flying finish....... ....... ....... the gear box seized & that was the end of the rally for us! arrghhhh!
out of the 120 cars which started only 67 finished !

A great big thanks again to Pat, Carol & family who crewed for us. & all the other crews who lent stuff & helped out, the marshals whos cheery faces at all the time controls spurred us on & Coltness Car Club who organised this great day.
